Hello everyone, just to let you know what's been happening on the Sunshine Coasts waterways in the last week, we have had two charters on the Maroochy river system with plenty of flathead in the smaller sizes and and four fish up to 55cms.
The upper reachs are fishing the best at the moment and water clarity is pretty good although still on the brownish side so the brighter colours in the plastics are working well. Most fish fell to the mandarin gold colour in the softie rack glider style, other lures that woked well were the 2'' power grub in smoke red glitter and pumpkinseed.
Other reports are that the mangrove jacks are feeding between the lakes on noosa river[stocking thier bellies up for the winter months]. The passage down at the caloundra end is also producing flatties and bream while mooloolah is consistent with bream, flatties and also some glolden trevally. The winter bream will soon start firing in Maroochy.
As a once former tackle shop owner and guide i can't emphasise the advantages of flurocarbon leader when fishing plastics especially for the ever tricky bream who have excellent eyesight, and will spook at anything that looks out of place.
Keep an eye out shortly for our report the 7 killer soft angling strategies, take care and tight lines.
